Damn!!

Been a while once again tumblr.  Things are good.  Busy as hell at both home and work.  Beacuse of that, I am rewarding myself with a little live music this Thursday night.  Langhorne Slim opening up for the Drive-By Truckers at the Norva.  Should be a good one.  Last show I saw was The Black Crowes @ The Stone Pony back in Sept.  It has been waaaaaaay too long.

“Cocaine Blues” - Johnny Cash

A very nice reminder for me to quit being lazy and get some Cash on the iPod.

Thanks!

Tuesday

Listening to some Electric Blue Watermelon (North Mississippi All Stars) while I finish my evaluation shit.

Then I get to take a ride down to the base and run a whole bunch of tests onboard a destroyer.  I have pretty much only seen the inside of the radio room onboard a submarine every time I have had field work so going on a “skimmer” is going to be kinda nice.

Lots of room to move around on the ship as opposed to the phone booth feel of radio on a sub.

My life is soooo exciting.

That time of year again……

Writing evaluations for yourself.

I hated doing this shit when I was in the navy and I now hate it just as much working for the man.

The pressure is officially on for this one as it will directly contribute to my raise and possbile promotion.

I am a very humble person so typing out in no uncertain terms, ‘I am soooo awesome!!’ is a big problem for me.

After about 5 seperate trips to Hawaii while in the Navy and on the job, I finally had time to visit the USS ARIZONA Memorial.
Here is a photo that shows the base of gun turret #3.
What an experience.
I was also able to drive on Ford Island.  Do a little Wikipedia search for that one.
Did this all on Valentine’s Day afternoon while waiting for a colleague to get to the island so I could finish my work and get home.

Been busy as a bee, working like a dog, (insert animal analogy here) the last few weeks.  Back in town after a work trip Hawaii.  In the office and taking up space.  i don’t see a lot of work getting done today.

Thursday

3:30 in the afternoon.

I ate a big lunch.

That is about all I accomplished today.

Gots to get my ass in gear in the morning.

Too much to do and not enough time to get it all done.

I’m not sure how to register this. When you start following a singer songwriter and collecting his/her music, no matter how had you root for them, you never really expect them to hit the big time or be played widely on the radio, much less receive an Oscar nomination. You expect them to just tour a lot and play small-to-medium shows to a specialized niche audience, doing well in relative obscurity and out of the limelight of Hollywood. With all that being said, I am really happy for Ryan Bingham (who immediately became one of my favorite singer-songwriters this time last year) and his Dead Horses just for being nominated for this prestigious award, along with his winning two other major awards, and hope that more people discover his sound through the movie Brave Heart and the popularity he is receiving for his genuine talent.

Let’s hope he makes it to the stage if him and T Bone win it.
Congrats Ryan!!
